Blues Heaven Foundation announces speakers series to begin during Black History Month

The Willie Dixon’s Blues Heaven Foundation has announced they will begin a speakers series program with the first event occurring on Saturday February 28th as a part of Black History Month. The event will be held at the home of the Blues Heaven Foundation, the former Chess Recording Studios building which is located at 2120 South Michigan Avenue in Chicago’s South Loop. The program will feature Grammy Award winning songwriter and Blues historian Terry Abrahamson. Sharing the program with Terry will be Blues musician and actor Doktu Rhute Muuzic who will conduct a harmonica playing workshop afterwards. The tax deductible donation for supporting this foundation event is $20 per person and an additional $6 for those who wish to purchase a harmonica and attend the harmonica workshop session.  People attending the event will also have an opportunity to tour this iconic location where the likes of Willie Dixon, Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf and Chuck Berry who mastered their craft and recorded their hits. It is suggested that those wishing to attend the event contact Blues Heaven and reserve their tickets, as seating is limited. Please also indicate if you will be attending the harmonica workshop. Any available tickets will be sold the day of the event.

Terry Abrahamson will be presenting his “Blues Lovefest” which is a personal and humorous storytelling through the collection of his personal photos, videos and music recollecting experiences with artists such as Muddy Waters and George Thorogood. Terry is a Grammy Award winning songwriter for Muddy Waters. All of this culminated in his critically acclaimed book, “In the Belly of the Blues” which is now a part of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and helped to land Terry in the Chicago Blues Hall of Fame. Terry’s book will be available for purchase and Terry will sign his book along with writing a song lyric using your name if you ask. For more information you may consult Terry’s web site at

Doktu Rhute Muuzic will be on hand to recall and talk about his over 50 years of experience as not only a Blues musician but also an actor of stage, television and the silver screen. Among his acting accomplishments have been his stage portrayals of Muddy Waters, Otis Redding and Jimmy Reed. Doktu Rhute Muuzic is also a fixture at Blues Heaven as he has provided musical workshops for many people over the years.
